Kai Ola Sushi

Kai Ola Sushi is the Harth Team’s favorite sushi spot in Leucadia. We recommend the moonlight roll above all others. It is incredible!

Pandora's Pizza

We love Pandoras and their creative pizzas. They have some huge seating areas which are great for large group gatherings.

La Especial Norte

La Especial Norte serves some of the most authentic Mexican food in Leucadia in a totally retro environment. If you are feeling sick go order their tortilla soup, it is sure to help you towards your recovery.

Birdseye Kitchen

The Harth Team’s favorite noodle bowls can be found at Birsedye Kitchen in Leucadia. They also serve some of the best curry in town! The wait can be long but it is always worth it.

Juanitas is an affordable Leucadia Mexican restaurant that serves some of the best breakfast burritos in town!

Buona Forchetta

Buona Forchetta is The Harth Team’s favorite Italian restaurant in Leucadia. Be sure to order any of their pastas, as they are all amazing! We also love the Niccola pizza!

If you like a good sandwich be sure to stop by Moto Deli! Located in south Leucadia, Moto Deli serves their own twist on delicious sandwiches for you to enjoy. The turketta is a fan favorite!

Herb & Sea’s menu consists of fresh and bright recipes that are sure to delight. The vibe is right and the design is super trendy and comfortable. This is a great place to enjoy a nice date night out on the town.

The Taco Stand

The Taco Stand (also located next to our main Compass office in Encinitas) has an authentic Mexican menu with plenty of bold flavors and an amazing salsa bar. Our team’s favorite item to order is their shrimp tacos and the surf and turf burrito!

The Bier Garden

The Bier Garden, known for their wide variety of beer, also serves up some amazing burgers and brunch items. It is in the heart of Downtown Encinitas and is a great place to get a bite or drink and do some people watching on the 101.

Union Kitchen & Tap

Union Kitchen & Tap is located at the southern end of Encinitas on Coast Highway 101. They have tons of outdoor space and it is a wonderful place to host events!

If you’re staying in Leucadia, Just Peachy is a local market that offers most of what you would find at a grocery store. It is centrally located in Leucadia, making it an easy place to pick up groceries within walking distance.

MRKT Space

A new addition to Leucadia, MRKT Space not only offers a wine bar and cafe, but a selection of grocery items as well. They also mix up some great cocktails and have a trendy and modern restaurant space to work or meet people in.

Lazy Acres

Lazy Acres is the largest grocery store located west of the I-5 freeway. It is a luxury grocery store with high quality products and plenty of local items as well.

The Regal Seagull

The Regal Seagull offers a wide variety of beers and sours on tap, as well as some killer chicken wings! Be sure to stop by on Wednesdays to enjoy wings for only $1 each. This is also a great bar to watch sports at.

○ Kings and Convicts, formerly known as Saint Archer, has a wide variety of craft beers on tap in a nice open room. It is a fun space for events and to grab a casual beer with friends.

○ The only winery by the sea in town, Solterra is a great place to enjoy local wines and tasty bites along the 101. The building has a cool vibe and design and is a local favorite for date night.

○ Enjoy plant based cuisine as well as a large selection of brews at Modern Times in downtown Encinitas. Although they are only open Wednesday through Sunday, Modern Times also welcomes dogs!

○ If you’re looking for a 1920’s inspired place, check out The Roxy in Encinitas! What is also a great place to eat, The Roxy hosts live music on their stage to entertain guests during and after dinner. ○ The French Corner is The Harth Team’s favorite place to grab a coffee and a bite to eat (not to mention it’s only three buildings south from The Harth Team office). Our go-to drinks are their chai tea latte and their cafe praline. You also have to try their almond croissant!

○ Located next to the Surfhouse Hotel, Coffee Coffee has a great selection of coffee and tea for you to enjoy, along with a spacious outdoor patio right in the heart of Leucadia. 

● Pannikin Coffee & Tea

○ One of the first landmarks in Encinitas, the Pannikin was transformed into a coffee house from what was once the old Encinitas Train Station. Our favorite menu item is the huevos rancheros!

● Lofty Coffee Company

○ Located near Moonlight beach on the 101, Lofty Coffee has tasty lattes and teas to enjoy. If you plan to visit, there are two locations on the 101 across the street from each other. Their roasting room is located on the east side of the 101, while their coffee shop is on the west side!

○ Bing is one of Leucadia’s local surf shops. They have everything from surfboards to beachwear. Known for their beautiful longboards, no Encinitas quiver is complete without a board from Bing.

● The Aloha Bungalow

○ The Aloha Bungalow is a small boutique on the east side of the train tracks, located along Vulcan Ave. This is a great place to find small gifts and locally sourced items.

○ Four Moons Spa offers beauty, healing and wellness services for anyone looking to relax. Enjoy a quiet massage or facial in their stunning bungalows, or partake in one of their yoga classes in their studio and courtyard.

Beaches

● Beacons

○ Located at the western end of Leucadia Blvd, Beacon’s beach is known for its private cove and fun surf breaks. To access the beach, you’ll need to walk down a dirt trail that traverses along the bluff. A lifeguard tower sits in the middle of the cove that is manned every day from 10am to 6pm beginning in April and ending in October. (Please note that there are no bathrooms). 

● Grandview

○ Located at the northern part of Neptune Ave, Grandview is a popular surf spot with its extended reef offshore. You can access the beach through the set of stairs. A lifeguard tower sits at the foot of the stairs and is manned every day from 10am to 6pm beginning in April and ending in October. (Please note that there are no bathrooms).

● Moonlight

○ Located between B Street and C Street in Encinitas, this popular beach has everything you need to enjoy all that our coast has to offer. The Marine Safety Lifeguard Station sits at the southern part of the cove that is fully operational year round. Towards the eastern part of the cove are facilities that include a playground, restrooms, showers, rentals, and a cafe. Patrons can access the beach from the street on both B and C Streets. Parking is free in the upper parking lot.

● Swamis

○ Swamis is one of the most desirable places to visit in North County. With its famous reef break, this beach is a great place to view sea life in the marine protected area with plenty of sand to relax on. You can access the beach through the set of stairs which houses a permanent lifeguard tower towards the bottom. Bathrooms can be found at the top of the stairs by the parking lot, where parking is also free.

● Candles on Tap

○ Candles on Tap is San Diego’s first custom candle bar, uniquely located in downtown Encinitas. Here you can create your own candles with over 90 different scents to choose from.

● Lemongrass Aveda Salon & Spa

○ Lemongrass is another great place to get a massage, facial, or hair service! It’s quiet Zen garden makes it an unforgettable experience. 

● Swami’s Self-Realization Fellowship Meditation Gardens

○ At the Self-Realization Fellowship Meditation Gardens, you can enjoy the serenity of nature and bliss as you walk along the paths in the garden. Open to the public, the meditation gardens are a great place to sit and enjoy the sounds of the koi pond and songs of nature. Keep in mind that noise levels are restricted in the gardens to maintain its peacefulness and serenity.

● RIDE Cyclery

○ If you’re looking to explore the coastline on bike, then RIDE Cyclery is the place to go! They offer both road bikes and electric bikes for you to rent. Check out their website to learn more about booking your bike! 

● Farmers markets

○ Located at Paul Ecke Elementary School, the Leucadia Farmers Market is a great place to grab a bite to eat, explore local artisan goods, and take home fresh produce, vegetables and fruit. 

 

Best Parks for Kids

 

● Leucadia Oaks

○ A fun park for younger kids. It sits far back from any busy roads and has a mellow play structure and is usually not very crowded. It also has a skate park, basketball court, sand volleyball court, and large grassy area for kids and dogs to play in. 

● Moonlight

○ One of the busier and larger parks in town, Moonlight has a ton of energy and kids at most hours of the day. It is a great place to bring a beach picnic with the family as well as they have picnic tables right next to the park.

● Target Center (Leo Mullen)

○ This hidden gem has one of the largest play structures in town and is typically not very crowded. It is located right next to Target so it is the perfect place to get the kiddos energy out before your Target run.

● Orpheus

○ This park has beautiful ocean views and has off leash dog hours posted at the park. The play structure is a bit smaller but sits far from the street and is better for older kids.

● Leucadia Oaks

○ A fun park for younger kids. It sits far back from any busy roads and has a mellow play structure and is usually not very crowded. It also has a skate park, basketball court, sand volleyball court, and large grassy area for kids and dogs to play in. 

● Moonlight

○ One of the busier and larger parks in town, Moonlight has a ton of energy and kids at most hours of the day. It is a great place to bring a beach picnic with the family as well as they have picnic tables right next to the park.

● Target Center (Leo Mullen)

○ This hidden gem has one of the largest play structures in town and is typically not very crowded. It is located right next to Target so it is the perfect place to get the kiddos energy out before your Target run.

● Orpheus

○ This park has beautiful ocean views and has off leash dog hours posted at the park. The play structure is a bit smaller but sits far from the street and is better for older kids.
